Prospero America Inc. was established in Philadelphia, PA in 2012. Prior to this, in 2008, Prospero initiated the first merchant-funded, card-linked consumer rewards’ program in the UK.

A proven model
Back in 2008, Prospero (UK) Limited initiated the first merchant-funded, card-linked consumer rewards’ program in the UK - the Utility Warehouse Cashback Card - for Telecom Plus plc.
Supported by 40 of Britain’s biggest retailers including Sainsbury’s, M&S, B&Q, ASDA and Boots, it was the first of its kind worldwide, and became Mastercard Europe’s most successful payment card-based loyalty and rewards’ program, forming the blueprint for subsequent banking payment card-based rewards’ programs in the UK.
The Cashback Card became a unique and enduring competitive advantage for Utility Warehouse in a highly price-competitive marketplace for home services, helping to push up the retention rate of existing customers and encouraging the inflow of new customers. The Telecom Plus share price increased 400% in the 3 years after the Cashback Card’s launch.
